SuperSport seal Alexander deal

Cape Town - Polokwane City midfielder Cole Alexander will join SuperSport United in July on a free transfer after signing a pre-contract deal with the Pretoria club.

The former Ajax man, who was nominated for the Player of the Season award last term, was heavily linked with moves to Soweto Giants Orlando Pirates and Kazier Chiefs.

Since leaving the Urban Warriors for Rise and Shine in 2014, Alexander has established himself as one of the most effective box-to-box midfielders in the country and earned him a call up to the Bafana Bafana squad by Shakes Mashaba.

Mamelodi Sundowns were also reportedly keen on acquiring the 26-year old's services, but their Tshwane rivals Supersport United won the race for his signature, securing him on a free-transfer.

The deal has been confirmed on Matsatsantsa's official Twitter account that read, "SuperSport United have acquired the services of Polokwane City midfielder Cole Alexander on a pre-contract. Alexander will team up with the United squad as from 1 July 2016."
