Cape Town - SuperSport United will be targeting their first win of the new Absa Premiership campaign when Orlando Pirates make the trip to Mbombela Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The Swanky Boys started the season with a 2-0 defeat to reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns and will be determined to inflict further misery on a Buccaneers outfit still smarting from a 1-0 defeat to Green Eagles of Zambia in their preliminary round CAF Champions League first-leg clash.
The 1-0 loss to 'Tonka twende' came after an encouraging 3-1 triumph over Bloemfontein Celtic on the August 3, and head coach Milutin Sredojevic will be keen to pick up a morale-boosting win ahead of an MTN8 clash with Highlands Park this coming Saturday.
Looking ahead to the midweek clash, SuperSport United new boy Thamsanqa Gabuza has expressed his excitement ahead of the game against his former employers.
"I am excited to play against my former team and as a footballer, it is always great to play against your former team," Gabuza is quoted as saying by Phakaaathi.
"I don't have a point to prove. I just have to listen to the instructions and as usual, when I score, I will do what I do best (celebrate).
"I want to score as many goals as I can here because I came here to play since I have already started my first game, but I did not score in the first game."
Meanwhile, former Bucs midfielder Thabo Mngomeni believes the Soweto giants can expect strong home support in the return leg of their CAF Confederations Cup clash with Green Eagles and reckons that they will be able to make the necessary adjustments in their two domestic clashes this week.
"The support will be an added advantage to the boys, and we all know Pirates supporters at Orlando Stadium - they rally behind the team for 90 minutes," Mngomeni told Goal.
"I think there is always pressure at Pirates. The supporters want trophies and they need to brag about the Champions League, and we cannot compare them to other teams.
"My advice is to create chances and convert them as early as possible against Eagles.
"However, there is the game against SuperSport and the other [Highlands Park] in the weekend, but they are professionals they can adjust and get the results."
