Sundowns 'willing to play ugly'

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns defender Wayne Arendse says his team is willing to play ugly in order to achieve their ultimate objective of winning the Premiership title.

So far this season, Sundowns have showed that they can switch from playing exciting and enterprising football to direct tactical play.

The tactics have been paying dividends, with Sundowns on a nine-game unbeaten streak in all competitions (eight wins and one draw).

According to Arendse, Sundowns will do whatever it takes to accumulate the points.

"It is good to play an attractive brand of football. That is what the supporters pay for but, at the end of the day, you also need to get points, which is very important for any team," Arendse told Soccer Laduma.

"Like I said, we are trying to play the brand of football Sundowns is known for and we will get better each and every game.

"Playing beautiful football and winning is always nice, especially for the supporters. However, like I said, points are also important and at times in football it doesn't matter how you accumulated them."
