Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns has heavily fined three first-team players for an alleged drinking incident while returning home from Equatorial Guinea, after a CAF Champions League clash in November.
SowetanLIVE reveals that the three players - who are all Bafana Bafana internationals - are Tebogo Langerman, Motjeka Madisha and the newly-signed Phakamani Mahlambi.
According to the report, Sundowns have remained tight-lipped on the matter saying that all internal disciplinary issues would be dealt with behind closed-doors.
"Just like at other clubs‚ internal processes are kept internal‚" Sundowns spokesperson, Thulani Thuswa said.
Sport24 understands that regular breathalyser tests are administered at the club after a string of star players were "caught offside" for drinking offences.
A source revealed that the trio appeared before a disciplinary committee where they were heavily fined, and forced to apologise to teammates.
The players are believed to have come under heavy criticism from disgruntled teammates - who hit out at their lack of professionalism - before they were subsequently dropped by a livid Pitso Mosimane for the next two games.
Madisha and Mahlambi have since featured in Masandawana's most recent 0-0 draw in a league clash at home to Baroka FC on Tuesday evening.
The defending Absa Premiership champions will be aiming to put their internal disciplinary issues behind them when they face Egypt's Al Ahly Benghazi in the CAF Champions League on Sunday.
Kick-off is at 15:00.
