Sundowns out to further dim Polokwane's shine

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns and Polokwane City will be searching for their first win of the new season when they clash on Tuesday.

The match will take place at the Peter Mokaba Stadium as Rise and Shine look to use the home ground advantage to bounce back from a disappointing 1-0 loss to Absa Premiership returnees Black Leopards.

City coach Jozef Vukusic will be under pressure to avoid a second defeat in a row, having been brought in to improve on a frustrating 2017/18 campaign for the club.

They will draw inspiration from last season's performances where they were able to stun Sundowns both home and away.

Pitso Mosimane's side, on the other hand, began their title defence with a 1-1 draw against Kaizer Chiefs in Tshwane on Saturday.

The Brazilians will fancy their chances of getting off the mark after a busy transfer window which saw them bring in a number of new faces following the departures of Khama Billiat and Percy Tau.

"It was a tight game, difficult game, not easy. They're a good team," Mosimane told SuperSport after the stalemate against Chiefs.

"We should've scored also the winning goal. Thapelo Morena should have scored and Themba Zwane one-on-one towards the end.

"It's too early. We didn't play as well as we always play. We had our chances. We had two chances we could've scored. That's all. It's early stages."

Sundowns are sweating of the fitness of Anthony Laffor and Andile Jali, who both missed the opening game against Amakhosi.

Kick-off is at 19:30.
