Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana says the club are targeting to win their first ever MTN8 title during the 2019/20 campaign.
Sundowns have won every other major domestic honour under coach Pitso Mosimane however the MTN8 is the only trophy which continues to remain elusive.
The Brazilians lost the 2016 final of the competition to Bidvest Wits at the Mbombela Stadium.
As such, Kekana says the side have a real hunger to win the tournament next season.
Downs did win the competition when it was known as the SAA Supa8 however in the current format they have not prevailed.
The inspirational destroyer told reporters: "It would be nice to win the MTN8. At a team like Mamelodi Sundowns we've got the bigger picture which is to win trophies, irrespective of which trophies it is we want to win it.
"We want to remembered as the generation that brought so many trophies to Sundowns. It will be nice for us to win it."
Sundowns open their campaign against Bloemfontein Celtic who pipped Kaizer Chiefs into eight spot.
