Sundowns secure Mohomi's signature

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns have completed the signing of Free State Stars midfielder Lucky Mohomi ahead of the new Absa Premiership campaign.

The highly-rated box to box midfielder joins the Brazilians on a three-year contract with an option of an additional two years.

According to The Sowetan, the 25-year old rejected an offer from the Buccaneers to fulfill his dream of moving to the Premiership Champions.

"He signed in the presence of his parents on Monday," a source close to the player told the local publication.

"Lucky's father is a Sundowns fan and his mother a Pirates fan. Remember he was wanted by both teams, but at the end of the day the boy comes from Mamelodi and playing for Sundowns has always been his dream.

"He just told Khoza the truth - that he prefers to play for his home team."

Mohomi enjoyed a dream debut campaign in the South African top flight after joining from amateur side Garankuwa United last season, scoring four goals in 30 first-team appearances.
