Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns have announced new contracts for Kennedy Mweene‚ Motjeka Madisha‚ Themba Zwane and Siyanda Zwane ahead of the January transfer window.
With the departure of striker Leonardo Castro to Kaizer Chiefs and the expected exit of forward Khama Billiat, Masandawana and Pitso Mosimane are currently in a rebuilding phase.
The former SuperSport United coach hinted last week that his squad will be significantly strengthened and a few players will receive new contracts as they prepare towards this season CAF African Champions League campaign.
Mweene, 33, an experienced goalkeeper with 120 caps for the Zambia national team has been second-choice for most of his time at Chloorkop to Denis Onyango - since his arrival from Free State Stars in 2013.
Madisha, 22, a centre-back promoted from the club's development structures has been one of Mosimane's stand-out performers in defence this season and looks set for a bright future at the Brazilians - featuring in all but one league game this season.
Themba Zwane, 28 has become a regular in the South Africa national team due to his consistent displays for Masandawana and his versatility to play anywhere across the midfield.
And finally Siyanda Zwane, 32, a robust full-back that's served as a backup option since joining the club from Golden Arrows in 2014.
Details of the length of the four player's contracts have not been revealed.
"This is a period where other players have to go and others come in‚" Mosimane told reporters."As I have already told you‚ we are strengthening the team.
"For us‚ January is six weeks before the start of the Champions League and we have to bring in a few players. It is not easy because the players that we bring must acclimatise‚ but we will probably bring in two from the outside."
