Sundowns president 'excited' by Vilakazi capture

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns announced the acquisition of sought after attacking midfielder Sibusiso Vilakazi.

With the predicting announcement following weeks of speculation, the Pretoria side also revealed the capture of Brazilian central defender Ricardo Nascimento and midfielder Lucky Mohomi.

Club president Patrice Motsepe admits to being excited that the club finally sealed the deal on luring Vilakazi from Bidvest Wits

"We are excited to welcome Sibusiso Vilakazi to the Mamelodi Sundowns Family,"  said Motsepe on the club’s website.

"We have been monitoring him for quite some time and I am confident that he will make a huge contribution to the growth and success of Sundowns.

"We are now taking a longer time monitoring and assessing players who we think will fit in with our style and culture of play before we acquire them.

"We have made mistakes in the past and we hope that we have learned from our mistakes. We are also very happy to welcome Lucky Mohomi and Ricardo Nascimento to Mamelodi Sundowns."

Motsepe reveals that the Chloorkop side has been monitoring Nascimento for two years before opting to sign the defender up.

"What excites me a lot about Mohomi is not only that he is an excellent player but also that he comes from Mamelodi which is where Sundowns has its roots," Motsepe continued.

"Ricardo is a very good player that we have been assessing for the past two years.

"South African football is becoming much more competitive and I think the upcoming football season is most probably going to be the toughest in many years."
