Sundowns linked with Mohomi

Pretoria - Mamelodi Sundowns are keen on bolstering their midfield options ahead of the new season and have reportedly short-listed Lucky Mohomi of Free State Stars.

The box-to-box midfielder enjoyed a memorable debut campaign in the Premiership with  Ea Lla Koto and became an integral part of the squad since his arrival from minnows Ga-Rankuwa United.

According to the Sowetan Live, the Brazilians are leading the race for Mohomi's signature ahead of Orlando Pirates.

"Sundowns are the favourites to sign him and he will love to join the club since he comes from Mamelodi," the local publication reported.

"But first things first - the two clubs must reach an agreement. You may have heard about Pirates but he is likely to join Sundowns."

Mohomi's agent, Abbie Rasimphi of Liberate Resources Sports Management, remained tight-lipped when questioned about his client's future.

"If there is an offer, it is up to Free State Stars to accept it and if they do, Liberate Resources will then come in and negotiate the player's personal terms. There is nothing more I can tell you," Rasimphi said.

Mohomi scored four goals and registered one assist in 30 appearances for Stars last term.
