Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns legend Joel Masilela has lauded coach Pitso Mosimane for having faith in young players such as defender Nicholus Lukhubeni.
The 23-year-old Lukhubeni has been a revelation since graduating to the Sundowns first team and even scored a goal from the right-back position in a league match against Chippa United recently.
Masilela, who starred for Masandwana in the 1990s, credits coach Mosimane for having the patience with the younger players in the squad and feels Lukhubeni can emulate someone like Percy Tau and play his football abroad.
In quotes published on Goal, Masilela said: "He's a very young talented boy and also trying to impress Pitso, he's working very hard.
"Pitso likes these boys, he's patient with them because they are the future of Sundowns.
"There's no pressure on him and he knows how to motivate these boys. You'll remember the story of (Percy) Tau, now there's Mkhulise and Makgalwa.
"I think they can go on and follow in the footsteps of Tau and make it abroad."
With regular right-back Thapelo Morena suffering a season-ending injury earlier this month, Lukhubeni could get more opportunities to impress.
Masilela added: "We need to be patient about these boys.
"There's no rush to prove a point now that Thapelo is injured, he must just enjoy himself and learn because the future is bright."
