Sundowns in line to pocket R22m

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns have the chance to pocket R22m if they win both the MTN8 Cup and CAF Champions League finals.

Last week was memorable for Pitso Mosimane's charges after edging Chippa United in a midweek MTN8 semi-final clash and finishing off things against ZESCO United in their Champions League semi-final over weekend.

The Brazilians will now face Bidvest Wits in the MTN8 final on Saturday at the Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga. Kick-off is at 17:00.

Meanwhile, in October, Sundowns will meet Zamalek in a two-legged Champions League final, the matches are scheduled to be played on October 14 and 21.

According to KickOff, Wits and Sundowns will challenge for the R8m in Mpumalanga while an estimated R13.7m ($1m) will be up for grabs in the CAF final.

It has been reported that the players and staff share the prize money if a trophy is won at the Chloorkop side.

"The players will share the prize money and that has not changed," said an anonymous Sundowns official.

"Obviously the amount will not be the same if they win both trophies, as some players are not registered for the CAF (Champions League)."
