Sundowns hope to make it 10 games unbeaten

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns will look to continue their fine form in the Absa Premiership when they host University of Pretoria at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Sundowns saw their unbeaten run in the league extended to nine matches with a goalless draw at champions Kaizer Chiefs on January 9.

The Tshwane side has claimed 16 points from six home matches this season.

The Brazilians are placed second on the Absa Premiership log with 27 points from 13 matches.

University of Pretoria suffered their eight loss of the season when they were beaten 2-0 at Orlando Pirates on January 13.

The Tshwane side has claimed three points from six away matches this season.

AmaTuks are placed 15th on the Absa Premiership log with nine points from 13 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Sundowns and Tuks have met in six league matches since 2012/13.

The Brazilians boast an unbeaten record in the sequence, with three wins and three draws.

Sundowns have claimed two wins and a draw from their three previous home matches against the University side.

Last season the Brazilians took four points off AmaTuks, drawing 1-1 away before winning the return match 1-0 on the final day of the campaign.

 ‘Downs’ 1-0 win last season was the first time one of these teams managed a clean sheet against the other.

Kick-off at is 18:00 on Saturday, January 16.
