Sundowns fight to keep Percy Tau

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns reportedly have an option to renew Percy Tau's contract at Chloorkop despite the fact he could supposedly sign a pre-contract agreement in January.

The 22-year-old, who is arguably the brightest attacking talent in South African football following recent performances for Masandawana, is in the final year of his deal with the African champions.

However, the club reportedly have an option to renew his deal and if they choose to exercise it as is widely expected, he will remain a Brazilian beyond the 2016/17 campaign.

With that said, Tau did reveal recently that he wanted to impress at FIFA's Club World Cup this December in order to potentially earn a move abroad.

Nonetheless, it is thought he will put pen to paper with the Pitso Mosimane-coached outfit in the near future.

Tau, who is considered as the most exciting talent since Thulani Serero will surely move to an overseas-based team if performances continue in similar fashion.

Meanwhile, the attacker's agent, Mmatsatsi Sefalafala, refused to comment on the situation. He told Soccer Laduma: "Such things I am not keen to disclose, because it is confidential. So it will be very difficult for me to give you an answer."

The brilliant young prospect is expected to play a role when 'Downs face Kashima Antlers in Sunday's Club World Cup quarter-final on Sunday.

The action takes place in Osaka in Japan, with kick-off scheduled for 12:30 (SA time).
