Sundowns desperate for win against AS Vita Club

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns will no doubt face a stiff test when they face Congo's Vita Club in Wednesday's CAF Champions League Group C battle in Kinshasa.

Last season Vita beat the Brazilians in the early rounds of the competition but were eliminated anyway after being found guilty of fielding an ineligible player.

As such, the Black Dolphins may have added motivation to put one over the visiting African champions on home soil. Positives for Downs is the form of Yannick Zakri who has scored in his last three games.

The visitors need a victory to build some momentum as they drew their opening group tie 0-0 against Ethiopia's Kedus Giorgis. In addition, Bafana baStyle midfielder Tiyani Mabunda is well aware of the challenge being faced.

"There is no doubt that they have a point to prove against us, and we are well aware of that, going to this game," he told Vodacom Soccer.

"And we also don't read much into their 3-1 defeat by Esperance, because they will be having a home ground advantage against us, and they will rise to the occasion."

Kick off is at 15:30.
