Sundowns defender: We have to respect the lockdown laws

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Anele Ngcongca has highlighted the need to stay safe during the coronavirus outbreak.

With all sporting activities suspended and the country in a 21-day lockdown, all players have been keeping fit and active in their own homes.

It is a unique situation for everybody and while Ngcongca is finding the going tough, he stressed the importance to "respect the new laws and protect our kids".

He was quoted by IOL Sport as saying: "It’s been really difficult because we love football. This is our full-time job and we've got to put food on the table.

"But we have to respect the new laws and we have kids that we also need to protect."

The former FC Fortune and Genk right-back added: "But thank God, I am home with my family now. I am really quite happy to be with them because you know that at Sundowns we are a team that travels a lot. So, we just have to use the time wisely and stay indoors."

Sundowns are currently second on the Premier Soccer League standings, four points adrift of leaders Kaizer Chiefs, having played a game more.
