Sundowns are strong on the ball, says Menzo

Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town head coach Stanley Menzo believes it is imperative for his side to avoid conceding early when they face Mamelodi Sundowns on Tuesday.

The sides square off in a Premiership clash at Loftus Stadium with the Brazilians potentially able to reach the summit of the standings, depending on other results, while the Urban Warriors will be desperate for a positive result to enhance their top-eight ambitions.

Menzo conceded the defending league champions are an intimidating opponent, but believes they can take something away from the game if they can keep them out early on.

"Look, they are strong on the ball, they can play a good possession game, they can create chances, so for me it is important that we remain in the game - like we did in Cape Town - we must make sure we don't give away an easy goal early in the game," he told the club's official website.

"We have to stay in the game, make sure we don't conceded early on. If we are able to do that I am sure we will get our chances. We have thought about how we will play them because they have their strengths but every team has their weaknesses.

"Let's hope our plan works, yes we won't have 80 per cent ball possession, but the possession we have we must make sure that we create chances and capitalize on our opportunity."

Kick off is at 19:30.
