Sundowns a step closer to landing Vilakazi

The long drawn out transfer saga of Bidvest Wits midfielder Sibusiso Vilakazi may come to an end according to the statement of his agent Mike Makaab.

Vilakazi has been linked with moves abroad and to the Premierships' big three since breaking into the national team set-up after winning South African topflight's Player of the Year award in 2013/14.

However, it seems as if the Students have finally given up hope of retaining the attacking midfielder with a move to the Mamelodi Sundowns imminent.

"We are tying the loose ends and we hope he'll sign with Sundowns," Makaab told The Sowetan.

Two of Makaab's other high profile clients, Sifiso Myeni and Lehlohonolo Majoro at Orlando Pirates, are also said to be on the move after the Sea Robbers confirmed they had been transfer listed.

The agent had no comments with regards to their next moves but told reporters: "We'll set time to meet the chairman [Irvin Khoza], hopefully next week."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
