Cape Town - The agent of Kaizer Chiefs defender Eric Mathoho says his client is happy to remain at the Premiership side after signing a new lucrative three-year contract.
Mathoho was widely expected to leave for Europe this season after forging a reputation of one of he best centre-backs on the continent with his stellar displays for Amakhosi - since arriving from Bloemfontein Celtic in 2012.
The 26-year-old South Africa international has also been a regular fixture in the national team set-up with 23 caps to his name, and the news of his commitment to the Soweto giants has been a welcome boost.
His agent Tim Sukazi revealed that 'Tower' wasn't short of suitors before agreeing the new terms to remain at Naturena.
"Eric was wanted by many teams. Some of those teams were South African clubs and others were from Europe," he told Isolezwe.
"In Europe, he's wanted by teams from Russia, Croatia and Sweden. We rejected those teams because their offers were not good enough.
"It doesn't make sense to go to Europe when the money is also not that good only to return home after a season or two. Their offers were not good enough, and for that reason we opted to renew with Chiefs," Sukazi added.
"He's happy at Chiefs and he still wants to achieve more. If there's an opportunity for to go abroad, Chiefs won't stand in his way - they confirmed that to us."
Meanwhile, Amakhosi return to action on Tuesday when they face Free State Stars at the FNB Stadium.
Kick-off is at 19:30.
