Cape Town - Stellenbosch FC are on high alert after reported target and Zambian international Nathan Sinkala was released by Congolese giants TP Mazembe.
Sankala has played in Ligue 1 with FC Sochaux and is an accomplished Chipololo international.
The 29-year-old had even been linked with Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns, but now it appears an unlikely candidate in Stellies are frontrunners for his signature.
TP Mazembe confirmed Sinkala has left the club.
"At the end of his contract, Nathan Sinkala will not have his lease renewed," read a statement on the club's official Twitter account.
"At the club since 2012, the Zambian midfielder was - for a moment - transferred to FC Sochaux in France then loaned to the Swiss of the Zurich Grasshoppers between 2014 and 2015 before returning to Lubumbashi."
"TPM wishes Nathan Sinkala a great success for the rest of his career and will have fond memories of the Zambian midfielder."
Sinkala has had an illustrious career, winning the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations with Zambia and lifting four DR Congolese Super League titles as well as one CAF Champions League crown and two CAF Confederation Cups.
