Stellies not in talks with ex-Chiefs defender, says Barker

Cape Town - Stellenbosch FC head coach Steve Barker has denied that the club has been in negotiations to sign defender Mario Booysen.

The 31-year-old had been released by Kaizer Chiefs before the start of this season and it was thought that the lanky defender was talking to the newly-promoted side about a deal.

However, Barker has squashed those rumours, saying that he has enough defenders in his squad.

Barker told Goal: "No, we are not talking to Mario, there are no negotiations at all. There’s nothing on that story.

"I’m not too sure where it comes from, but we're full in that department."

Booysen played 14 games for Amakhosi last season but did not do enough to earn a stay at the Soweto giants.
