Stars focusing on Pirates clash, say Phungwayo

Cape Town - Patrick Phungwayo says Free State Stars will only start thinking about the Nedbank Cup final after their Absa Premiership final day encounter with Orlando Pirates.

Phungwayo will come against his former team in Ea Lla Koto’s last match of the 2017/18 Premiership season, scheduled for Orlando Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Ea Lla Koto will be looking for a win over Pirates in a bid to finish the season among the top five teams in the Premiership table.

The 30-year old defender said he is happy to be enjoying his football again, having played a key role in Stars reaching the final of the Nedbank Cup, where they will face Maritzburg United in Cape Town on May 19.

He joined Stars at the start of the season after ending a frustrating spell with Pirates.

“We are still focused on the last match against Pirates before we can think of the final,” Phungwayo told Vodacom Soccer.

“Yes, I settled quickly at Stars after joining the team and was able to have a good season with the club.

“I feel there is so much to improve, but I’m enjoying my football again.I believe that I’m not where I want to be as yet.”
