Cape Town - Platinum Stars did their survival hopes little good as they played out to a goalless draw with Baroka FC at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The hosts made a bright start and Gerald Phiri looked particularly dangerous, with the teenager trying his luck from distance twice inside the opening quarter of an hour, but failing to test Ayanda Dlamini on each occasion.
They continued to probe for the opener as the first half wore on, but were being let down in the final third to keep the visitors in the contest.
Clear-cut chances were at a premium in the second half too, with Sibusiso Msomi also missing the target for Stars, while Siphiwe Mlillo came to their rescue when he cleared the ball off the line.
In the end the two teams had to settle for a share of the spoils on a night of little entertainment for the fans.
