Cape Town - Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic has heaped praise on Thembinkosi Lorch, saying he considers the midfielder to be the best player in the country based on current form.
The 25-year-old was a consistent performer for the Buccaneers in the 2018/19 campaign, helping them to a second-place finish in the Absa Premiership standings.
His performances have not gone unnoticed, with the player nominated for the Footballer of the season, Player's Player of the season and Midfielder of the season awards.
And, after seeing Lorch bag a brace in Pirates final game of the season, Sredojevic had nothing but words of praise for 'Nyoso'.
"'Nyoso' has throughout the season really been a role model and leading by example in each and every match, giving his best," Sredojevic was quoted as saying by KickOff.
"Sometimes we were left wondering where he gets all the energy with the body that he has, but he's what I want to call an atomic ant.
"He's a person who has really shown to everyone - with all due respect to other players, there are several of them and I have no right to mention names in order not to miss anyone - that if anything is to be put on the table then he is our best player of the season, and I also believe in South African football at present.
"With sincere appreciation to him and his teammates for each moment of their efforts, it has been a real honour, pleasure and special privilege coaching these wonderful boys.
"We believe everyone has improved, but the steps of seven miles that Thembinkosi Lorch took this season has really shown that he is going into the right direction.
"I really wish that he also continues from this platform this season in times ahead of us."
