Sono's game plan worked against Wits

Cape Town - Jomo Cosmos booked their place in the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals as they beat Bidvest Wits 5-4 on penalties following a 1-1 draw after extra time on Tuesday.

Jomo Sono revealed that their game planned worked out as they tried to put pressure on Wits’ fullbacks Sifiso Hlanti and Siboniso Gaxa.

"I think we planned well, we knew Wits are very difficult especially with their two fullbacks - Hlanti and Gaxa - so we stopped the two of them," the club coach said as quoted by KickOff.

"We put a lot of pressure on Gaxa, our goal came from his side because he has not been playing for a long time and I told Matsi 'when you get to him, just push it and run,' because Matsi's got speed and it worked out.

"We took them to extra-time; we knew that if we go to penalties, I trust my keeper. I've seen him so many times with penalties."
