Solinas: The best of Chiefs is coming

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas is disappointed at being knocked out of the MNT8, but says the best of Amakhosi is yet to come.

The Glamour Boys missed out on making it to the final of the competition following the 1-0 loss to Supersport United, who reached the final for the second year in a row with a 3-2 aggregate score.

Solinas has welcomed the FIFA international break as it gives him time to improve his side after a difficult start to the new season.

The Italian tactician has managed one victory in eight matches since taking over the reins at the Soweto giants.

“I am disappointed because the whole Kaizer Chiefs family wanted this final, but we have to move on. We haven't seen the best of Kaizer Chiefs yet, the best is still coming,” Solinas told his club website.

“We didn't play well in the first-half, but we did much better in the second half, creating chances.

“It was disappointing to see SuperSport United score the goal."

Solinas continued: "We lost an opportunity to win a trophy and I understand that our supporters are not happy with the result. The same is true for me.

“I'm here now for only one and half month. I don't have magic wand.

“There is, however, a lot of room for improvement and the FIFA international break will give us some time to work at training on certain aspects of our game.

“I believe in this team and I fully believe that, with time, we will get it right. I am optimistic about the future. The best of Kaizer Chiefs is coming.”
