Shongwe to fight for place in Wits line-up

Cape Town - Out of favour Bidvest Wits midfielder Jabulani Shongwe has vowed to work harder in training to earn back a regular place in the first team.

Shongwe has been relegated to the bench with newcomers in midfield Thabang Monare and Gabadinho Mhango, having enjoyed an excellent start to the season.

Wits head coach Gavin Hunt seems to have found a winning formula after their 3-0 triumph in the MTN8 final against Mamelodi Sundowns last month.

"It is hard to break through in the team because the team is doing well but I know my chance will come," Shongwe told KickOff.

"I will wait until I get my chance, all I have to do is to keep on working hard at training.

"I know it's not easy to sit on the bench but in no time I will be back because I want to do what I love and that's playing and getting a chance to be part of the national team. The only thing that the coach has said to me is to keep on working hard.

"In every situation there's always a solution. If things don't change I will sit down with my manager, family and discuss what's best for me, because I want to play at the end of the day.

"I have learnt that as a man you don't have to run away from your problems, just face them head on, but if it's not for you then move on."
