Cape Town - Kaizer
Chiefs midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala has praised the work coach Steve
Komphela has done in blending experience and youth in the squad.
While the likes of Tshabalala, Itumeleng Khune, Bernard Parker, Tshepo Masilela, Willard Katsande and others bring huge experience to the Amakhosi set-up.
Komphela has also been looking to the future and has successfully brought through exciting young talents like Ryan Moon, Siyabonga Ngezana, Wiseman Meyiwa and Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya to the Absa Premiership this season.
Tshabalala understands the importance of squad evolvement and the introduction of fresh blood and is excited about the club's future, while also emphasising Chiefs are still in the mix for silverware this season.
"We're heading in the right direction with the squad that we have – a mixture of experience and a lot of youth," he was quoted saying by KickOff.
"There's a bright future in the team, looking at the long-term, but what also matters is here and now, and the situation we're currently facing – to win games and trophies.
"Hence I say, we're not there yet and we are a work in progress, but we still have a chance to bring silverware through the Nedbank Cup and the league."
The 33-year-old 'Shabba' also rallied his team-mates to play their hearts out for Komphela.
"With regards to the coach, I think he's done well in terms of trying to bring the team together, and promoting and giving youngsters an opportunity.
"As a team, we see what he's doing and his vision. So, it's us who have to buy into that and turn the hard work that he's put in into rewards, by winning the league or the Nedbank Cup."
City next welcome Benni McCarthy's Cape Town City to the FNB Stadium in an Absa Premiership clash on Saturday.
Kick-off is at 20:15.
