Seema: We could have beaten Pirates

Cape Town - Bloemfontein Celtic caretaker coach Lehlohonolo Seema believes his charges can hold their heads high after their narrow Nedbank Cup defeat to Orlando Pirates on Saturday.

Phunya Sele Sele gave a good account of themselves but we're eventually brushed aside 2-1 by the Buccaneers.

"I think the guys can be proud of their performance today," Seema said on SuperSport after the game.

"If they can take this kind of performance into the league, I think we can survive. Hard luck today.

"They put in so much effort but are coming out with nothing. It is a little bit disappointing but we will soldier on."

The coach added that for the relegation threatened clubs, every game between now and the of the season is a cup final.

Celtic next welcomes relegation threatened Highlands Park to the Dr Molemela Stadium on Tuesday evening for an Absa Premiership encounter.

Kick off is at 19:30.
