Seema lauds Mabena's energy and intelligence

Bloemfontein Celtic coach Lehlohonolo Seema has praised captain Ndumiso Mabena for his 'unbelievable energy and intelligence'.

Mabena has scored seven goals in 21 PSL appearances this season, including the winner in last Sunday's 2-1 win over Baroka FC, which once again underlined his importance to the team.

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane hailed the 33-year-old after he scored against the Brazilians towards the end of last month.

And Seema, who was an experienced playing member of the Orlando Pirates side that signed Mabena ahead of the 2009/10 season, has lauded the influence of the veteran forward as a leader in the dressing-room.

“The energy and intelligence in him are unbelievable. Mabena is a player I have known for many years – since our time together at Orlando Pirates," Seema told City Press.

"I was the senior player when he joined us."

And Seema revealed that Mabena is on a special training regime in order to keep him fresh for as many games as possible.

"We give him breaks between our [weekly] training sessions because we want to manage him well," the retired central defender added.

"He is our leader and it’s nice to have a player like him in a team full of young players."
