Cape Town - Newly-signed Bidvest Wits midfielder Granwald Scott says he is happy to be back in South Africa, and expressed a desire to help his club lift the league title.

The former Ajax Cape Town midfielder penned a two-and-a-half year contract with the Clever Boys, following a stint abroad with Slovakian outfit SK Slovan Bratislava.

Scott highlighted his admiration for Wits head coach Gavin Hunt, saying it's an honour to ply under the former SuperSport United mentor, who is known to be a keen admirer of the Urban Warriors youth academy graduate.

"It’s the best feeling ever to be back with the loved ones," Scott told KickOff.

"I’m also very excited to play for my new coach Hunt and Wits. I’ve always wanted to play for him and it’s a dream come true, you know.

"I know coach Hunt was interested in my services when he won his first championship with SuperSport but I couldn’t leave Ajax then.

"We (Ajax) were a very good team, especially under Foppe (de Haan) and Mushin (Ertugral) and it was kind of tricky to just leave."

The 30-year-old also revealed his delight at reuniting with former Ajax team-mates at Sturrock Park, in addition to revealing the biggest difference between the standard of football in South Africa as opposed to that in Slovakia.

"Wits also feels like a family to me. The first few sessions felt like I’ve been there for years. The fact that I’m here with my old team-mates like Nazeer Allie, Moeneeb Josephs and Thulani Hlatswayo makes it more special," Scott added.

"We have a strong bond from our playing days at Ajax.

"The first aspect you realise once there is the high level of professionalism. The discipline and concentration levels of the players is phenomenal.

"They report for training one-and-a-half hours before every day before training. The players eat well and know how to look after their bodies. That is something we here in South Africa can really learn from," he concluded.
