Rusike staying, says Maritzburg coach

Cape Town - Maritzburg United coach Fadlu Davids says prized asset Evans Rusike is happy at the club and will not be leaving.

The Zimbabwean striker has been a crucial player for the Team of Choice over the last few years and his goal-scoring exploits have seen him linked to some of the big clubs in Gauteng.

The 27-year-old has already netted three times this term, further increasing his stock, but Davids is confident that Rusike will still be at the club when the transfer window closes on August 31 - this Thursday.

"He knows he's going nowhere," the coach was quoted saying by KickOff.

"We had a chat with him and he knows. He's happy, he signed a new contract now so there is absolutely no chance that before the window anybody of our team or squad – definitely not even Rusike – will move."

Meanwhile David's men left it late before securing a vital 1-1 draw against SuperSport United in an absorbing MTN8 first leg semi-final match at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday night.

Maritzburg will next welcome SuperSport to the Harry Gwala Stadium on September 9 after the international break where they will be looking to use their home advantage to book their place in the MTN8 final.

Kick off is at 20:15.
