City ease to victory over battling Baroka

Johannesburg - Cape Town City moved up to second in the Premiership table with a comfortable 3-0 win against relegation favorites Baroka FC at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday.

Lehlohonolo Majoro scored the only goal of the first half as Bakgaga were made to rue their missed chances at the break.

The former Orlando Pirates forward grabbed his brace five minutes into the second half and barely a minute later Sibusiso Masina made the lead unassailable with a 3-0 scoreline.

Eric Tinkler's side knew a win would put them back among the title contenders, but they were made to sweat in the first half against the basement club.

The hosts looked confident in possession but as has been the case all season for Kgoloko Thobejane's men, they failed to covert their chances.

The lack of incisiveness in the final third handed the visitors an easy win, with Majoro opening the scoring in the 12th minute amidst Bakgaga's spurning chance after chance.

After the break, title-chasing City proceeded to gain a bit more dominance in possession and were duly rewarded for their professional display with two further goals in a space of a minute.

First Majoro completed his brace, heading home an Aubrey Ngoma delivery past Oscarine Masuluke and then Masina with his fourth in all competitions, to make it 3-0.

The result now sees Baroka slip five points away from safety, from 14th-placed Free State Stars, with only two wins all season - stretching their winless run to 12 league outings.

Baroka 0 Cape Town City 3 (Majoro 13, 51, Masina 52)
