Cape Town City head coach Jan Olde Riekerink is optimistic that striker Kermit Erasmus will soon return to training after recovering from injury.
Erasmus tore his hamstring in the 1-1 draw with Maritzburg United in January and was expected to be out for up to three months.
Now his coach has revealed that he seems to be on schedule to return to training with the rest of the squad soon.
"Kermit is close [to returning to action]. He had a difficult injury. So, we have to see it week by week and day by day if and when he can join the rest of the squad at training. Hopefully, it will be very soon," Riekerink told the media, according to Goal.
Riekerink added that City also missed the presence of captain Thamsanqa Mkhize as he is still getting over his injury.
"We also missed Thami, it's also a bad injury," added Riekerink.
Meanwhile, the City boss was pleased to welcome back Abbubaker Mobara after his lengthy spell on the sidelines.
"He [Mobara] gives us options on the right-hand side as Craig Martin is suspended for the next game with his fourth yellow card," said Riekerink.
