Cape Town - Absa Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns have snapped up striker Tokelo Rantie on a free transfer, according to the player's representative.

The 28-year-old forward has signed a three-year deal with Masandawana after impressing coach Pitso Mosimane during a lengthy training spell at Chloorkop.

Kgori Dinho Mokoro, who represents Rantie, confirmed the news, saying in a statement as quoted by Soccer Laduma: "Yes, it is true... Tokelo 'TK' Rantie has signed with Mamelodi Sundowns.

"I can only thank coach Pitso (Mosimane) who gave 'TK' a chance when everyone else had written him off.

"Yes, 'TK' did have personal problems, but that is all behind him now - my client just wants to play football and enjoy the game.

"Once again thanks to Coach Pitso and also KB (Rangoaga - Sundowns fitness coach)."

Rantie will look to get his career back on track after a difficult last couple of seasons in which he has played very little football.

The striker had spells with Genclerbirligi in Turkey and Bournemouth in England and later signed with Cape Town City but did not play much at the Citizens.
