Radebe advises Tau to move to France's Ligue 1

Cape Town - Legendary former Bafana Bafana and Leeds United centre-back Lucas Radebe believes Percy Tau should establish himself in France before moving to England.

According to Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane, Tau has attracted interest from Spain's La Liga, Ligue 1, the English Premier League, Germany's Bundesliga as well as Italy's Serie A.

The forward has gained his admirers from abroad following a stellar 2017/18 campaign in which he hit 13 goals in all competitions and provided 13 assists as well for the Brazilians.

As a result, he was named South Africa's Footballer of the Year and it seems he has a bright future at the highest levels of the game.

As such, Radebe, who made his name at Leeds from 1994 until 2005, takes the view that moving to a side in the French top flight might prepare him for the demands of English football later.

Speaking to Kickoff website, he said: "I think he is a good player. I think he is one of the players that impressed. But for me, what I liked is the consistency.

"I'm not sure about the physical aspect, his presence on the field of play. Because look at (Lionel) Messi how he expresses himself, that's what Percy Tau should be able to do.

"If he has to go to England and possibly maybe France. Use it (Ligue 1) as a stepping stone to get to the UK."
