Pule wants to end Wits stay with a bang

Cape Town - Bidvest Wits attacking midfielder Vincent Pule is targeting more cup glory with the Clever Boys before his planned departure at the end of the season.

The midfield ball wizard has been at the club for four seasons and has become increasingly influential in the last two campaigns, showing himself to be a match winner with his ability to conjure up moments of brilliance.

Pule was on target when the Students beat Bloemfontein Celtic 1-0 in this season's Telkom Knockout final.

Although he has one eye on a reported move to away from Wits, Pule also wants to ensure he gives his all in his remaining time at the club.

"As a person you have to try new challenges and this (leaving Wits) is my next one. The time had come for me to take my game to the next step," the 25-year-old told the Sowetan.

"Every player has to contribute for us to win the cup. We have to push because Wits is a big team.

"For as long as I am at Wits I need to continue to work hard and focus on the team. At the moment the spirit is high; at least we are doing better," the Phuthaditjhaba-born former African Warriors player added.

The Johannesburg team are in action in the Nedbank Cup on Wednesday night when they host Cape Town City.

Kick-off is at 19:30.
