Preview: Cape Town City v Ajax Cape Town

Cape Town - Cape Town City are set for the first-ever local derby when they take on and Ajax Cape Town on Friday evening at the Cape Town Stadium.

City owner John Comitis says he's not phased by the prospect a facing the club he once owned and established in the Premiership many years ago.

Comitis is looking to create an exciting atmosphere for locals to be entertained with, as he reiterates his desire for the community to be exposed to an expansive brand of football.

"It's important for Cape Town that we can create a derby and make it an annual event that all the Capetonians can participate in. I am very confident that the game will be very exciting," he said in the pre-match press conference.

"I feel nothing about facing my old team to be honest. I am so committed to the Cape Town City brand, I am so committed to the players who've stepped up here and taken the challenge and I am committed to the public who've embraced us."

The Urban Warriors will be targeting their first win of the season while City will be looking to build on their performance against Orlando Pirates on Tuesday, in which they outplayed the hosts but only managed a goalless draw.

Veteran forward Nathan Paulse has been in great form for Ajax and will continue to lead the line for Roger de Sa's side after bagging his third goal in as many games in their 1-1 draw with Polokwane City on Tuesday.

There are no new injuries or suspensions for City but their local rivals will be without Roscoe Pietersen, who was sent off against Rise and Shine after two bookable offences.

Kick-off is at 20:00.
