Cape Town - Polokwane City spokesperson
Vusi Mtimane says the club are fully in support of striker Rodney
Ramagalela in his pursuit of the Absa Premiership's top goalscorer award.
The forward is seemingly in a three-horse race with Mamelodi
Sundowns' Percy Tau as well as Baroka's Gift Motupa. Ramagalela has 11
goals while Tau has 10 and Motupa is on nine strikes in the league.
Meanwhile, SuperSport United's Evans Rusike and Sundowns' Khama
Billiat are still mathematically in the hunt for the gong as well with
eight and seven strikes respectively.
Speaking to Soccer Laduma, Mtimane said: "Rodney is firmly
focused on helping the club to finish in the highest possible position on
the table. Even you were to speak to him, he would tell you that the
club comes first.
"However, as a club, it would be nice
to have one of our own players win such an important accolade. If you
look at how the team is playing, you can see the support the other
players give to Ramagalela by the assists they provide to him.
"Just as he supports the ambition of
the club, the rest of the players also support him in his quest of
finishing as the league's top goalscorer." Nonetheless, with City having five
matches left to play before the end of the season, it appears that the
29-year-old is in pole position to claim the PSL's top scorer crown for
the first time in his career.
