Cape Town - Cape Town City lost ground in the battle for the Absa Premiership title after playing to a drab goalless draw with Polokwane City at Cape Town Stadium on Friday night.
As it happened: Cape Town City v Polokwane City
In a match short on goalmouth action, the chances were scarce throughout as the Citizens struggled to break down and organised and disciplined Polokwane defence.
The first chance of note arrived in the 16th minute as Chris David tried his luck from range only to see his shot tipped over by George Chigova in the Polokwane goal.
And, with the first half winding down, Chris David, Bradley Ralani and Craig Martin combined well to create a chance, but the resulting shot by David flew over the bar.
Unfortunately, there was not much of an improvement after the break as Thato Mokeke and Kermit Erasmus fired over in the 57th and 65th minutes respectively.
There was one last chance for the hosts in the 70th minute, but Chigova was alert to the danger and came to Rise and Shine's rescue, after Thami Mkhize found Siphelele Mthembu in the box.
