Cape Town - Polokwane City and SuperSport United played out to an exciting 1-1 draw in Tuesday's Absa Premiership clash at the Pietersburg Stadium in Polokwane.
The visitors came out of the blocks quickly and applied pressure to the hosts in the opening exchanges in Polokwane.
The pressure soon paid dividends in the ninth minute as Matsatsantsa took the advantage inside the opening 15 minutes. Following positive build up play, a chance was handed to 23-year-old defender Maphosa Modiba.
The player showed good execution as he struck home with precision in the ninth minute to hand Kaitano Tembo's men the lead at the Pietersburg Stadium.
Rise and Shine responded and came back into the contest with a great deal of momentum. It duly saw reward as Ayanda Nkili struck the leveler in the 31st minute.
Once more good work from veteran Jabu Maluleke, who at the age of 36 continues to show no signs of slowing down made the difference.
It was from his assist which Nkili got the equalising strike for the home side. After the break, the chances were few and far between in the opening exchanges.
With that said, Rodney Ramagalela came close as, after good attacking play, his shot hit the woodwork. Ronwen Williams had to remain on his toes and also made a number of stops.
James Keene, who netted a brace for United in his last appearance, then went close to restoring United's advantage but fired over in the 72nd minute.
The action remained tight in the closing stages as both sides shared the spoils in Polokwane on Tuesday night.
