Platinum Stars defender in horrific car crash

Cape Town - Platinum Stars defender Thabiso Semenya's involvement in a horrific car accident prior to their 2-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs on Wednesday night has been confirmed.

The 33-year old was allegedly on his way to the Royal Bafokeng Stadium with his wife to support Dikwena when the crash occurred.

The Rustenberg outfit's general manager, Senzo Mazingiza, confirmed on their official website that Semenya sustained minor injuries, but his wife died on the scene.

"We are deeply saddened and sorry! On behalf of the club, the board, the coach, technical, the players and support staff, we would like to send our deepest condolences to Semenya and the family for their loss. They are in our thoughts and prayers in these trying times," Mazingiza said.

"The club will issue further details concerning the matter at a later stage. For now it is important that we keep Semenya and the family in our prayers and support them in whatever way we can."
