Pitso: We're not scoring enough in domestic competitions

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane believes that goals are scarce for his charges in domestic competitions.

The Brazilians are set to host SuperSport United in a rare midweek MTN8 Cup semi-final second leg clash on Wednesday at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium.

Meanwhile, Sundowns shifted their focus to Africa with a CAF Champions League round one first-leg encounter against Cote d'Or thrashing the Seychelles side 5-0 on Saturday.

Despite the hefty goal tally over the weekend, Mosimane hopes that they can start to score more goals in domestic competitions.

"I know we scored 4 this past weekend and we scored 5 a few weeks back (CAF). But my concern is that we’re not scoring enough in domestic competitions," Mosimane said as quoted by the official PSL Twitter account.

"Our attack, I wouldn't say is blunt, but we don't have enough ammunition. We have had many injuries."

SuperSport held Sundowns to a 1-1 draw in the first-leg and Mosimane says that remaining focussed during set pieces will be pivotal for his side as their Tshwane neighbours are deadly with when it comes to a dead ball situation.

"This is an important but nothing much will change from the first leg. Same stadium. Same pitch. Same opposition. The only difference is the changeroom."

"The key for us is to manage set-pieces against SuperSport We have to manage this. But I also know that they have to manage something about us... you know the story."

Meanwhile, Mosimane’s counterpart Kaitano Thembo believes that his Matsatsansta charges getting to the final won’t be easy.

"It is a huge game for us. It is a derby and we need to prepare adequately. We need to manage the game."

"We need to put up a good performance that compliments our ambitions. We want to be in the final, but it won't be easy."

Kick-off is at 19:30.
