Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane has urged star attacker Percy Tau to not rest on his laurels and improve his goal scoring rate with the Absa Premiership leaders.
After bursting onto the scene last season during the
triumphant CAF African Champions League campaign, the 23-year-old has been an
ever-present figure in the Masandawana line-up.
His work-rate and incredible movement off the ball saw Mosimane convert the skilfull winger into a false-nine, and this season's return of four goals and five assists in 10 league games is testament to the change working favourably.
While the form of the attacker earned him a place in the South Africa national team, Mosimane has been vocal about the academy graduate's potential - claiming he wants to help Tau win the 2017/18 Premiership Player of the Season award.
"Percy could do better," Mosimane said after his brace helped the Brazilians beat title-chasing Baroka 4-0 on Tuesday. "We appreciate and acknowledge that he's a good player, he does well, he fights and tries, but he could do better in front of goals.
"I mean, he got one chance in the first half [against Baroka but didn't take it]. He got one against Chippa and he was [just] looking.
"He got to a one-on-one with the keeper from Wits, but he delayed. But it's okay, he's doing well."
