Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has suggested that defender Rivaldo Coetzee could be deployed in midfield after a good performance off the bench at the weekend.
Coetzee is primarily a centre-back but came on as a substitute to replace Tiyani Mabunda in midfield during the CAF Champions League game against Lobi Stars on Saturday.
Mosimane said that the 22-year-old Coetzee has been used as a defensive midfielder in some training sessions.
The Sundowns mentor was quoted by KickOff website as saying: "The change that we made on Mabunda was that he got yellow card in the second minute and we didn't want to risk. So that's why we put Riva as a six.
"We have been training him to play six and he came on as six, top six and very good.
"Also, I could have played Oupa [Manyisa] because it was a free-flowing game, but the Nigerians are big, and we don't have height and that's why we played Riva to help us on set pieces."
Coetzee was on Monday selected in the Bafana Bafana 24-man squad for the crucial Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Libya to be played on Sunday, March 24.
