Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane believes his side can control the threat of high-flying Free State Stars in Wednesday's crucial Absa Premiership clash in Pretoria.
The Brazilians are first in the standings and enjoy a six-point advantage over Ea Lla Koto in fourth position. Meanwhile, the team's closest title rivals are Kaizer Chiefs in second with a four-point gap to make up.
In late January Downs drew 0-0 with the Glamour Boys in a result which Mosimane believes set the example for the clash against Stars. Speaking to reporters, he said: "When we drew with Chiefs, it was to manage things. Let them not get closer, because they’re capable of coming.
"They’re playing well and scoring – well, they’re not high scoring, they’re winning 1-0 every time – but they’re getting there.
"They score one goal a match and win because they don’t concede a lot. They have the best defensive record with Maritzburg. That shows that our point at FNB Stadium was a good point.
"We could have been very expansive and then got nothing. We managed Chiefs, we managed Cape Town City, and now we need to manage Free State Stars and stay where we are."
Wednesday's action gets underway at Loftus Versfeld Stadium from 19:30.
