Pitso reveals Onyango retirement plans

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Denis Onyango is considering calling time on his international career in a bid to extend his career.

The 33-year-old has told his Downs team-mates he intends to retire from international football after the conclusion of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

This is according to Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane, who revealed that he had been informed of Onyango's intentions by his club team-mates.

"I heard a little bit from the other keepers that probably the [2019 Africa] Cup of Nations would be his last," Mosimane is quoted as saying by TimesLIVE website.

Onyango is currently on the treatment table with a hamstring injury and missed Wednesday night's 3-2 victory over Cape Town City.

The Ugandan has struggled with a number of setbacks this season, including a serious knee injury sustained at the start of December.

He reportedly feels that his persistent injury problems will diminish once he retires from international football.
