Pitso not writing off Pirates, Chiefs in PSL title race

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane believes Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs are still strongly in the running to challenge for the Premiership title.

Sundowns are in third place in the PSL standings but trail leaders Bidvest Wits by six points. However, the Brazilians do have a potentially significant four matches in hand due to CAF Champions League commitments.

Meanwhile, Pirates are in second spot just three points behind the Clever Boys and could go top with a victory over Baroka on Tuesday at Orlando Stadium. Kickoff is 19:30.

With that said, Cape Town City and Polokwane City are also seemingly in the race with 27 points, seven behind the Students in fourth and sixth position respectively.

Chiefs have the same total as both the Citizens and Rise and Shine in fifth.

Speaking to reporters, Mosimane, who has previously said Gavin Hunt's men are favourites for the title, said: "I am not saying we cannot win the championship.

"I would love to win the championship. I think we can. But I told you which team to win the championship.

"But don't write Pirates off. They have a chance to win the championship and so does Kaizer Chiefs.

"I know you can say what, they are coming."

The Brazilians face unpredictable Highlands Park on Tuesday in Tembisa. The action also gets underway from 19:30.
