Pitso explains why PSL's top players can be like Neymar

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says South Africa's top players can emulate Neymar by forcing their way out of their clubs.

Neymar's future has been the subject of intense speculation with it being reported that the Brazil superstar no longer wants to play for Paris Saint-Germain in France's Ligue One.

Instead, the 27-year-old is desperately seeking a return to Barcelona to be reunited with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, whom he played within his first spell at the club from 2013 until 2017.

As such, Mosimane takes the view that SA's top players can do a similar thing if they so choose.

It has been a lean transfer window for the Brazilians with only the likes of Mauricio Affonso, Sammy Seabi and Nyiko Mobbie coming on board.

'Jingles' told reporters: "You've got to bring in people who are at the same level or better. This team can go to the semi-finals of the Champions League, this team can win the league.

"So, when you bring players to be in the level when you look local, I'm not saying we don't have much, but it's very difficult.

"When I identify one or two players that I think can be there, the teams are not selling... they are not selling. The players I want, teams don't sell. They don't even say 'put the price'. They are not selling.

"You know, if a player wants to go and he is unhappy, he can go. You can have the contract, but if he wants to go...and there's an example with Neymar, a very good player, but if he wants to go?

"If he wants to force his way out, he can force his way out. And that applies to me if a player wants to go, what am I going to do? We've got to accept. Players we want, their teams have come back to us and say, 'sorry coach, we are not selling'."
