Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane
has explained that the club loans players out if they are not ready to
perform in a winning environment every day.
Younger players Keletso Makgalwa, Thendo Mukumela and Katlego
Otladisa spent last season on loan at Platinum Stars, while Yannick
Zakri and Fares Hachi went to Ajax Cape Town and Chippa United.
A host of changes are reportedly expected to take place ahead of
2018/19 with new signings such as Guinea’s Toni Silva having already
arrived, whereas the likes of Khama Billiat, Asavela Mbekile, Mogakolodi
Ngele, Cuthbert Malajila and Thabo Nthethe could be set to leave.
Nonetheless, Mosimane takes the view that players are only loaned to teams where they may benefit from the experience.
He told Kickoff: "When we feel that you are not yet ready to
take the intensity and the pressure of winning every day and getting to
understand the way we play as quick as possible, we can always try loan
"But we loan you out to a team where we know you are going to add value.
"Sometimes we loan them to a smaller club, like Zakri where he is. I
am not saying Ajax is a small club, but I am saying he was at a club
where there was pressure to survive.
"So that’s what we build on the mental side, of not sending a player
to a team where they are okay and they’ve achieved a position. They are
in difficult situations."
